I’m always thinking of new ideas, and how to solve problems that I see in everyday life. I also help manage and co-own a painting company here in Denver Colorado, so I’m daily ordering materials for projects and I had a thought… What if you had an online superstore/marketplace of construction product providers to provide a similar unified experience to construction products that consumers have with Amazon, Walmart, etc.
The platform would allow for:
- One-click ordering across all marketplace products
- Single easy to use portal
- Summarized COGS reporting for contractors
- Project cost tracker for materials
- Unified invoices and receipts for easy tax accounting
- The platform would tack on an ordering fee for using the platform, something like 2-5% of the order. Or even a flat rate $10 per order surcharge to keep things simple (excluding cc fees)
- Vendors could sign up by themselves, adding their catalog of products to the marketplace
- Example Vendors to make it End to End for construction contractors:
- Home Depot
- Lowes
- Ace Hardware
- Sherwin Williams
- Benjamin Moore
- Beacon Roofing Supply
- ABC Supply
With enough vendors on the marketplace, the process of ordering materials for most contractors could be simplified to a single click as well as simplifying the process of tracking receipts, vendors, and project costs.
